Everyone wants acne gone as fast as possible. The Dermalogica Special Clearing Booster should accelerate the natural healing process of the skin from any type of acne. Dermalogica is a quality skincare brand that provides plenty of products for healthier looking skin. The Special Clearing Booster fits alongside the Dermalogica brand to help heal the skin for a clearer complexion. The acne spot treatment is a serum that goes directly on existing acne and acne prone areas to heal, restore, and rejuvenate the skin.
The serum relies on 5% benzoyl peroxide to battle blemishes. Benzoyl peroxide is a commonly used over-the-counter acne medication that acts as an antibacterial agent. Benzoyl peroxide also accelerates skin turnover to unclog pores in order to help acne heal faster. Other ingredients in the Special Clearing Booster include zinc sulfate, sage, and tea tree. The combination of these three ingredients hydrates and soothes the skin.
Benzoyl peroxide has minor potential side effects. Those with sensitive skin can experience redness, dryness, or further skin irritation. With the tea tree, zinc sulfate, and tea tree the formula attempts to reduce the potential of getting these side effects.
As a spot treatment, this serum is decent. The Special Clearing Booster helps purify the skin from acne and heals acne faster. However, this serum does not have the ability to protect the skin from further flare-ups. This treatment also retails for $44. There are alternative treatments for acne that have 5% benzoyl peroxide alongside other soothing agents that will be just as effective and half the price.
